Says: "I can relate to your feeling overwhelmed and needing to ask for help. That does take a bit of pride-swallowing, but it is also galvanizing as well. Knowing that you are smart and want to learn more is a strength I know all members of our triad possess. I actually decided not to take econ (although it interested me) because I knew it would take me a lot of effort to conceptualize the content. Talking to a professor does provide a peace of mind and also strengthens the relationship with the professor, so if you aren't doing well, they do know you are making an effort. That's great that you went with friends first. This is a good idea to approach a foreign and somewhat intimidating situation. You're right about the extra credit project; it does never hurt to ask. This is an important take-away message from your piece here that has larger implications than those pertaining to the classroom. Sometimes a raise, promotion, or change in job content will depend on speaking up for what you want and need. Doing so will also paint a picture of you as a more confident person!"
